Job Purpose:

To implement, monitor and evaluate all forms of teaching and learning and student success activities throughout the brand. To contribute to the development and assessments of academic systems and report on improvements where necessary.


At least master's degree in an education and/or teaching and learning/ education methodology/ teaching support field or other relevant qualification.


Functional Competencies:

Superior interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to develop and mentor peers.

Superior communicative competency (written and verbal) in English.

Understanding of the complexities of second or third language education and communication for students.

Computer literacy

Training capacity - from design to implementation.

Action research

Proven ability to work constructively in a team, display initiative, manage own work including competing demands against tight deadlines and managing work to successful completion - including trouble shooting.

Understanding of the higher education regulatory environment particularly the accreditation environment and associated quality assurance issues (preferable).

Work Experience:

5 years' experience in higher education.

Experience required in an education environment (preferably higher education):

  • Experience in development and quality assurance of lecturing at different levels and modes of delivery
  • Experience in supporting the development of teaching and learning of lecturers
  • Training and/or lecturing and/or facilitation and/or teaching
  • Experience working on a learning management system

Key Performance Area:

Promotion of best practice in teaching and learning at all the campuses.

Assessment of the educational/teaching and learning knowledge and skills of lecturers and teaching and learning specialists and the development and implementation of individual and collective strategies and interventions for improving these.

Quality assurance of teaching and learning including interventions as needed.

Promotion of the Institute's Teaching and Learning Policy.

Support of the implementation of the institute's technology-enabled learning mechanisms through VegaLearn (our learning management system).

Analyse academic results of the brand and design national interventions for modules/ programmes that are performing poorly across all our campuses.

Implementing strategies to support the shift to tertiary studies.
